The question raised in the article Detecting Fake Websites: the Contribution of Statistical Learning Theory, developed by the groups of scientists from two different universities covers one of the most important themes in contemporary world: internet fake. It goes without saying that development of the information technologies gave a number of certain advantages to the humanity. But the same time it should be noted that the development of information technologies and internet in particular also brought severe financial damage, giving a push to creation of the fake web sites: “Fake websites have become increasingly pervasive, generating billions of dollars in fraudulent revenue at the expense of unsuspecting Internet users. Providing brief overview of these methods, the authors focused on the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, making completing the investigation with reasonable examples and formulas, which technically explain the methods fulfillment. The research hypotheses takes the significant part of the work, as the investigators provided huge investigation to prove them, illustrating, each of them with visual material, which makes the article more comprehensive for the reader.
