Elements of Religious Traditions Paper
Religion is a special form of awareness of the world, due to the belief in the supernatural, which includes a set of moral norms and behaviors, rituals, cult of action and unite people in the organization (church, religious community).

Other definitions of religion: it is one of the forms of social consciousness set of spiritual ideas, based on a belief in supernatural forces and beings (gods, spirits), which are the subject of worship; organized worship of the supreme powers. Religion not only represents a belief in the existence of higher powers, but establishes a special relationship to these forces: it is, therefore, known activity of will directed to these forces. The religious system of representation of the world is based on faith or mystical experience and linked to the attitude to the unknowable and intangible entities. Of particular importance to religion are such notions as good and evil, morality, purpose and meaning of life, etc. Fundamentals of religious beliefs of most religions of the world written by people in the sacred texts, which, in the opinion of believers, or dictated or inspired directly by God or gods, or written by people who are over the terms of this religion, the highest level of spiritual development, great teachers, particularly enlightened or initiated, Saints etc. Most religions supported by the clergy.

In the sociology of religion in the structure, it is divided into the following components:

-religious consciousness, which may be commonplace (personal relationship) and conceptual (the doctrine of God, norms and lifestyles, etc.)
-religious activity, which is divided into a cult and out of cult,
-religious relations,
-religious organizations.
Types of religion:

For the religions of ancient Egypt, India, Greece, the Aztecs, Mayas, the ancient Germans, ancient Russia was characterized by polytheism. Tawhid (monotheism) is characteristic of the religions, like Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. From the perspective of the faithful adherents of the above mentioned religions, their appearance was the result of divine action. There is also religion without God (in the sense which attaches to the notion of Western religion) - the belief in an abstract ideal: Buddhism, Jainism. Adherents of some religions can be classified as other pagan, heretical or sectarian.
Basic functions (roles) of religion:

Worldview - religion, allegedly believers, fill their life with some special significance and meaning. Compensation, or comforting, psychotherapy is also related to its ideological function, and part of the ritual: its essence lies in the possibility of religion to indemnify and compensate the person’s dependency on natural and social cataclysms, remove feelings of its own impotence, severe feelings of personal failure, and severity of injuries being fear of death. Communicative - communion of believers with each other, “communication” with the gods, angels (spirits), souls of the dead, saints, who shall serve as the ideal intermediary in ordinary daily life and communication between people. Communication is carried out, including, in ceremonial activities. Regulatory means awareness of individual content of certain values and moral norms, which are developed in each religious tradition and speak a kind of program behavior. Integrative - allows people to understand themselves as a unified religious community, held together by common values and purposes, person be can self-determination in the public system that has the same views, beliefs and values. Political - Leaders of various communities and states are using religion to justify their actions, unity or separation of people by religion for political purposes. Culture - Religion promotes cultural groups, the media (writing, iconography, music, etiquette, morality, philosophy, etc.) Disintegrants - religion can be used to separate people, to foment strife and even wars between different religions and faiths, as well as inside the religious group. Psychotherapeutic - religion can be used as a means of psychotherapy. According to Raymond Kurzweil, the primary role of religion - is the rationalization of death, for example, awareness of the tragedy of death as a good thing.

There is a disputed the view that religion is a factor that reduces the level of crime. According to some reports, the rate of growth of believers among prisoners is almost twice the growth rate of the total number of convicts, with the proportion of believers among prisoners than the percentage of believers in general, prisoners are significantly more likely to attend church services. At the same time, these studies are only about the growth of religiosity in people who have already got in place of imprisonment, and say nothing about the level of religiosity and religious affiliation of people to commit crimes.

Personally I believe in religion and in the higher power and in everything good connected with it. Faith, beliefs, compassion and love all together make a pure soul of a person. Religion is about a pure faith in the better, in justice and in people. Religion helps me to live and to perceive the world the way it is, and it also helps me to see the best sides of people, of people’s actions and to love every thing in the world for something.
