Contemporary Criticisms of Christianity
Christianity is a monotheistic world religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, described in the New Testament. Christians believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah, the Son of God, the God who became man, and the Savior of mankind. Christianity is the world's largest religion on the number of adherents - 2.1 billion; it is geographically widespread - almost every country in the world has at least one Christian Community.
Not all people who don’t believe in God and they have their reasons. There are several types of unbelief:

1. Unbelief as a synonym for ignorance.
Some doubt the Word of God, because I do not know it. This skepticism is based on ignorance of the Word of God - because the faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Therefore, if people do not hear and do not know the Word of God, they have no faith. This lack of confidence is due to inadequate attention to the Word. Therefore, many saved Christians do not believe in the healing of God.
2. Unbelief as unconvincence or unwillingness to believe. The people of Israel knew that they would seize the Promised Land, because God has said, that he would give it to them. But He failed to persuade them to act according to His Word. Many Christians know the Word of God, but do not want to act according to it. This is disbelief. Only obedience can replace disbelief.
3. Unbelief as infidelity. It happens when a person rejects the faith.
4. Unbelief as indifference (a practical indifference to religion).
5. Unbelief as a rational problem, or theoretical atheism.
6. Unbelief as resistance to God. The vivid example of such unbelief is Nietzscheanism.

Also, some authors argue that now the main reason for Unbelief are the conditions of modern techno-consumer culture, which are expressed in the desire of well-fed, profitable and easy life, independent of all authority, achieved thanks to advances in science and technology.
And the main reasons of unbelief are: secularism and indifference. Secularism is a trend, based on liberalism, and the side effects of liberalism, which requires a correction. Secularism will never replace religion in the world, because deep down everyone is a believer. Emotionality and individualism are among the core values of secularism, which are very clearly illustrated in the modern culture, characterized by the enduring values for the sake of technological progress and a sense of well-being...

Secularism also means the relativism, which is the negation of truth. Exactly this ideology has led to indifference and unbelief, which was mentioned before. This behavior led to the opposition of Socialist government of Spain and the bishops of the Catholic Church in matters relating to the value of life, family, abortion and senseless of civil marriages between persons of the same sex.
People are aware of the dangers of totalitarianism, but in Western Europe, the fundamental spiritual values are victims of secularism. As a result, even in traditionally Christian countries such as France, Britain and Spain, the hierarchy of values has been violated, and Truth, Beauty and Goodness were reduced below the level of individual, relativized and social values.
There is a strong support of the primacy of individuality, but the true value of man is being forgotten. Now democracy is considered to be the Truth, but not the means for its support and protection. Another consequence of the loss of Christian culture is the fact that people have hard time understanding great masterpieces of art and their own Christian culture.
All people are different: those who believe in the existence of God, and those, who don’t. The existence oft God is supported and proved by Bible. Here are the reasons why people can believe the Bible:

1. The Bible tells the truth.

The Bible tells the truth, even where it seems to be disadvantageous. It does not hide the fact that Jacob, the father of "chosen people", was a deceiver. Moses, who gave his people the law of God, appears in it as an unconfident man, who, for the first time is trying to help his people, goes on killing and hides in the desert. David in the Bible is not only the most beloved king of Israel, but the captain and spiritual leader. He also takes the husband's wife and sends the husband to a certain death. The Bible says that by its nature the man is an enemy to God. It is also written that the path to heaven is narrow, and to hell is wide. Nobody can say that the Bible is written for those who want simple or pleasant answers, optimistic outlook on religion and human nature.

2. The Bible is preserved in its original form.

When, after the thousands years of life of the Jewish nation in exile, the state of Israel was revived, Bedouin shepherd stumbled upon one of the most amazing archaeological discoveries of our time. In a cave on the northwest coast of the Dead Sea in a broken jug the ancient documents were found. Later, the manuscript which was thousand years older was found. One of the most important documents was a scroll with the text of Isaiah book. The text of the manuscript was almost identical to that which we can read in my Bible.

3. The Bible tells of itself without embarrassment.

It is important to know what Bible tells about itself. If the writers of the Scriptures didn’t explicitly state that they speak on behalf of God, it would be quite risky to talk about it only on the basis of indirect evidence. We would be faced with a bunch of unsolved mysteries, which came to us on the pages of historical and didactic works. But it would not be a book, because of which countless churches and synagogues appeared all over the world. If the Bible didn’t explicitly say, that God speaks to us through it, it would not be the basis of faith of hundreds of millions of Christians and Jews. But those who wrote the Bible, without a shadow of a doubt stated that they were inspired by God.

4. The Bible describes miracles.

To believe that God has revealed Himself to Israel is possible only if Israel really came out of Egypt. If the Red Sea did not open before the Israelis, as Moses told, so the Old Testament loses all right to speak on behalf of God. The New Testament doesn’t dependent on miracles less. To confirm the reliability of the New Testament, there were written names of all witnesses of the resurrection, and this was done at a time when those people were still alive and they could elaborate more. Many of those witnesses were killed as martyrs, and they died not just for some abstract moral or spiritual beliefs, but for their unwavering belief that Christ was truly raised from the dead.

5. The Bible doesn’t contradict itself.

Forty different authors over more than one thousand six hundred years have written 66 books of the Bible. Then there was the 400 years of silence that separate 39 books of the Old Testament of 27 books of the New Testament. But, in spite of everything, all the books from Genesis to Revelation represent different parts of the same stories. Taken together, they give clear answers to the most important of our questions: What is the meaning of our life? How to get rid of anxiety for the future? How to live in peace with people? How to rise above circumstances and to maintain hope? The fact that the Bible to all these questions gives clear and consistent answers proves that it is not a collection of different books, but one big book.

6. The Bible is absolutely reliable from historical and geographical points of view.

For centuries, many people doubted the historical and geographical authenticity of Bible. However, modern archaeologists have repeatedly found evidence of people, cities and nations, which were known only from the Bible before. Every time it appeared that everything said in the Bible was more trustworthy than the hypothesis of scientists.

7. The authority of the Bible was accepted by Christ.

Many people spoke well about the Bible, but no one said about it so convincing as Jesus of Nazareth. He propagated the Bible, not only with his own, but with the whole his life. When Satan tempted him, when he taught the people, when he suffered, Jesus didn’t leave doubt that for him the Old Testament was not just a national heritage of Israel, but something much more important.

8. The Bible Prophecies come true.

Since the days of Moses, the Bible predicted events, which no one wanted to believe in. The most important from the Old Testament prophecies is this prophecy about the coming of the Messiah who will save the people of God from his sins, and will establish a kingdom of justice and peace.

9. The Bible remains the Bible.

Books of Moses were written 500 years before the appearance of the earliest sacred books of Hinduism. Moses wrote the book of Genesis 2000 years before Muhammad wrote the text of the Koran. And for all these centuries and millennia there was no other book that was loved and hated as much as the Bible. No other book was bought, studied and quoted more than this one. Millions of other books appear and disappear, but the Bible remains the benchmark by which all other books are evaluated. While those who are not satisfied with its teaching, trying to ignore the Bible, it continues to be the book number one of western civilization.

10. Power of the Bible changes the lives of people.

Many people really became better under the influence of this book. The Ten Commandments pointed the right way to of life to countless number of people. Many people obtained solace in times of grave from the Psalms of David took. The Jesus`s Sermon on the Mount did not let people to fall into pride and become self-righteous legalists. Paul's words about the love had melted a lot of harsh hearts. What bible can do with the man can be understandable while studding the lives of Apostle Paul, Augustine, Martin Luther, John Newton, Leo Tolstoy and CS Lewis. Even entire tribes and nations, such as the Irish Celts, fierce Norwegian Vikings, or Indian tribe in Ecuador Auka changed beyond recognition under the influence of God's Word and the life of Jesus Christ. There is no other life, which would have had such an impact on human life.

Also we need to remember that Jesus Christ came to our land to help people and sacrificed his life for the sake of all mankind. Jesus Christ has taught us to believe in God and saved us from the power of sin and eternal death. Son of God, Jesus Christ, because of the love for us, sinners, come down from heaven and as a simple man suffered instead of us for our sins; he was crucified, he died on the cross and was resurrected on the third day.
Thus, Christianity is the world's largest religion on the number of adherents; it is spread all over the world. There are a lot of reasons to believe in existence in God and to believe the Bible. At the same time, there are reasons and causes not to believe. Every person chooses his own way, his own religion and faith.
