Military Involvement in Society

Military Involvement in Society
Conscription is a duty and obligation of citizens with arms to defend the state. Conscription is legislated in most countries. It also must follow military service of citizens during the war. But in many states there is conscription, which implies taking service in wartime and in peacetime.
Military involvement in society is widely spread all over the world. The effects and the consequences of the military involvement in society should be implemented strategically, according to the current situation in the country and considering the top issues to be resolved. They should not contain aggression and force against the civilians of any country of the world. Protection of the country should be the main aim of the military involvement in society. As the Bible's standpoint is completely against violence, the same principles should be adapted to maximum in the modern society, to protect and defend the country.
Military force is obviously necessary in the society, as each country needs to defend itself, to protect its citizens and to show its power. But the military should not cross the limits, they should act according to the international laws, they should not intrude in other countries’ policy and actions. History has some examples of military intervention in the countries because of the suspicion and threats. Nevertheless each country should follow its steps to protect and provide its own citizens with help and support.
Ethical issue of the military involvement in other countries has many disagreements, as many people consider that military should act only in the country, but not to intervene in the different situations of other countries. Military involvement should be reflected in providing humanitarian aid in case of hurricanes and other natural disasters, and in other situations when people need help.
It is important that the military should clearly understand their rights, their responsibilities and their main goals to be able to protect the citizens of the country and to be an example of the military forces in the world. The right actions and the wise decisions, along with the willingness always to help those in need within the country are one of the main principles. Clever actions of the military are able to open new opportunities to the citizens, to enhance the prestige and the image itself. Military were invented for a good cause, to protect, defend and ensure safety of the people. Military involvement is widely distributed in humanitarian aid operations nowadays. Sometimes military force is the only hope for people to get rescued that is why it is important for military force to be an “indispensable assistant” in urgent situations. Peacekeeping and related stability operations are the tasks of military force in these days. Consequently the military involvements in society have to have only positive effect in each situation, where the military force takes part. It is also important to appreciate the hard work the military do, and the safety they provide to the people.
But one way or another, no country can exist without an army. Where the country is trying to save money for the army, inevitably it still pays its existence with other means. Today, considering the circumstances, a purely voluntary principle of manning the Army is good only for a peaceful time in very rich countries. In different countries and different historical epochs of the recruitment systems were different, but one way or another, there are two basic principles of acquisition of the army. The first principle is a forced recruitment. The second principle is a voluntary set. Forced recruitment includes conscription, universal military service, mobilization. Recruitment means that every certain number of people should put some people in the army. Universal military service means that all the young people of the country are obliged to serve in the army for a certain period. However, some categories of young people may be exempted from service. Mobilization means that the army takes all citizens capable of bearing arms and who can perform the duties of military service. Typically, the mobilization is carried out in the initial period of war. The voluntary principle applies to enlistment in much the same as in any other job (hiring) as its own nationals and foreigners. Both principles have their advantages and disadvantages.
Forced recruitment is good in that it is enough simply to recruit large numbers of the army, it is easy to replenish loss of personnel. Such an army is extremely cheap, easy to modify its number necessary. The country in peacetime has a large number of reserve personnel. This principle is widely used by all countries in periods of major wars. The disadvantages of such a principle is the difficulty of quality of personnel training, recruitment of sufficient personnel and its fighting qualities are highly dependent on the ratio of population to the state rulers.
Voluntary recruitment is usually done on the basis of payment of military labor. This principle is good because it is enough simply to recruit the required contingent with sufficient finance. It is easy to train personnel, easy to recruit troops with quality professionals. Major shortcoming of this principle is a very high cost of such an army, extreme complexity, and often impossible to replenish the army in combat, a sharp increase in the cost of the army in time of war, lack of trained reserves. This principle is often used a very rich country in peacetime or in local conflicts. Almost all countries apply the principle of mixed stocking. Soldiers and NCOs is completed partially on the base of conscription, partly voluntarily and the officers, usually on a voluntary basis.
In modern society there is a tendency complexity of military occupations and military equipment, along with some remission of military conflicts that reduces the likelihood of large-scale conflicts. Many countries in the military planning involve mainly short-term conflicts, in which tasks can be solved by material and human reserves built in peacetime. These states may refuse to do military service in peacetime, and some of them from military duty. At the same time, countries that have before them the prospect of prolonged or intense conflict (Russia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, North Korea), intend to maintain military duty, and even the Armed Forces on the basis of conscription.
Military involvement should be expanded only within the country to which it belongs. The main goal is to ensure people in the safety of the country, ensure in the fact that country is taking care of its own problems and issues, and guarantee the devotion to the citizens. Freedom and trust in this sphere are the main points. As a fact, military is a very useful force which should be applied only for the sake of the people and to extract the greatest benefit to the state and its inhabitants. For peace and tranquility we have to pay. It is an axiom.
